1. Overview
Edgar Luna Pozos, professionally known as ElectroshockElectroshockSpanish, is a prominent Mexican professional wrestler. Born on April 22, 1970, in Torreón, Coahuila, Mexico, he is recognized for his extensive career, primarily with AAA since 1997. Electroshock has held several significant titles, including the AAA Mega Championship, the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship (with Lady Apache), and the Mexican National Tag Team Championship on three occasions. He is also the winner of the 2009 Rey de Reyes tournament and the 2011 Copa Antonio Peña. Beyond his wrestling accomplishments, he has also competed in mixed martial arts. He is married to fellow luchadora Lady Apache and is the brother of luchador Charly Manson.
2. Early life
Edgar Pozos was born in Torreón, Coahuila, Mexico, on April 22, 1970. In 1975, following the birth of his younger brother Jesús, his family relocated to Mexico City, settling in the Tláhuac delegacion. As a teenager, Pozos was inspired to pursue bodybuilding after seeing a picture of Arnold Schwarzenegger in a Mexico City gym. He was also a devoted fan of wrestling, a passion fueled by his father, who worked as a wrestling trainer. This allowed the Pozos boys to frequently attend wrestling matches at the Toreo de Cuatro Caminos, a popular venue in the early 1980s. Pozos combined his bodybuilding regimen with wrestling training, aiming to become a professional wrestler. To obtain a wrestling license from the Mexican Boxing and Wrestling Commission, he had to participate in a tryout match against Axel, performing well enough to secure his license.
3. Professional wrestling career
Electroshock's career began in 1992 under a mask, leading him to work for major Mexican promotions like CMLL and AAA, where he gained significant recognition and multiple championships. He also had a brief stint in the independent circuit and an MMA career.
3.1. Early career (1992-1997)
After obtaining his wrestling license, Pozos adopted the enmascaradomaskedSpanish character "Ultimatum". The name, meaning "final warning", was inspired by a band he saw and seemed fitting for the showmanship of professional wrestling. As Ultimatum, he secured a contract with CMLL and further honed his skills at their wrestling school under the guidance of Arturo Beristain. Despite nearly five years with CMLL, Ultimatum primarily wrestled in low-card matches, never advancing beyond the first or second bout on the show. After realizing CMLL had no plans to elevate his profile, Pozos decided to leave the company.
3.2. Joining AAA and rise (1997-2006)
Pozos was on the verge of quitting wrestling when his friend, José Mercado, known as Pentagón Black, persuaded him to apply for a position with AAA. At the AAA offices, he met AAA owner Antonio Peña, who remembered Pozos from his time working for CMLL. Peña offered Pozos a contract and collaborated with him to develop a new character. Pozos, drawing inspiration from the Hannibal Lecter character in the movie The Silence of the Lambs, had adapted an ice hockey goaltender's mask into a mouthguard resembling Lecter's. Peña remarked that the mask made Pozos appear like a madman and, pondering "How do you deal with madmen?", suggested "Electroshock therapy," thus giving Pozos his new ring name, ElectroshockElectroshockSpanish. He briefly used the name SchizophreniaSchizophreniaSpanish in April 1997 before officially debuting as Electroshock in September 1997.
Electroshock quickly became a member of Los Vipers, a prominent rudoheelSpanish group led by Cibernético, which also included members such as Abismo Negro, Psicosis II, Histeria, Mosco de la Merced, and Maniaco. The group swiftly established itself as AAA's leading rudo faction, bolstered by multiple title victories. On May 2, 1999, Electroshock and Abismo Negro teamed up to defeat Perro Aguayo and Perro Aguayo, Jr. for the Mexican National Tag Team Championship. Towards the end of 1999, internal conflicts emerged within Los Vipers, leading Abismo Negro to form Los Vipers Extreme with Electroshock, Pentagón, Shiiba, Cuervo, and Mini Abismo Negro. On November 7, 1999, Electroshock and Abismo Negro lost the National Tag Team title to Hator and the Panther. The Los Vipers factions eventually reunited in early 2000, though the tension between Abismo Negro and Cibernético remained largely unresolved. This renewed unity allowed Electroshock and Abismo Negro to recapture the Mexican National Tag Team Championship on May 7, 2000, by defeating Hator and the Panther once again. However, their reign lasted only 63 days before they lost the belts to the duo of Perro Aguayo, Jr. and Héctor Garza.
In the fall of 2000, Electroshock traveled to Japan to compete for Michinoku Pro Wrestling, participating in their 2000 Futaritabi Tag Team League tournament. Teaming with Pentagón, he scored 9 points, tying for first place with Tiger Mask IV and Gran Hamada. However, the Mexican team was defeated by Tiger Mask and Hamada in the tournament finals on November 3, 2000. Upon his return to Mexico, Cibernético established a new "super faction" in AAA called Lucha Libre Latina (LLL), which incorporated Los Vipers and several other rudos. Over the next few years, Electroshock distanced himself from the other Los Vipers members, preferring to team more frequently with his brother, Charly Manson, who also worked for AAA. On June 8, 2001, Electroshock defeated Heavy Metal to win the UWA World Light Heavyweight Championship, a title he held for approximately four to five months. A week later, on June 15, 2001, he defeated Héctor Garza to capture the Mexican National Light Heavyweight Championship, which he defended for 310 days before losing it to Perro Aguayo, Jr. Electroshock secured the Mexican National Tag Team Title for the third time when he partnered with Chessman to defeat La Parka, Jr. and Máscara Sagrada. This partnership, representing AAA, lasted for 427 days until they lost the title back to La Parka, Jr. and Máscara Sagrada. Following this title loss, Electroshock and Chessman had a falling out, initiating a storyline that soon involved Electroshock's wife, Lady Apache, and Chessman's storyline girlfriend, Tiffany. This rivalry between the two mixed teams led to the creation of the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship. As part of Triplemanía XI on June 15, 2003, Electroshock and Lady Apache emerged victorious in a four-way match against Chessman and Tiffany, Gran Apache and Faby Apache, and El Brazo and Martha Villalobos, becoming the inaugural Mixed Tag Team Champions. They held the title until September 16, 2003, when Chessman and Tiffany regained the belts. The storyline culminated at the 2004 Rey de Reyes event, where the two teams faced each other in a Parejas SuicidaSuicidal Tag Team MatchSpanish, meaning the losing team would be forced to wrestle each other under Luchas de ApuestasBet MatchSpanish rules. Electroshock and Lady Apache lost, and Electroshock subsequently pinned Lady Apache in their match. Despite the loss, Electroshock apologized for pinning his wife and voluntarily had his own hair shaved off instead of forcing Lady Apache to be shaved bald. After the storyline with Chessman, Electroshock began a new storyline with his own brother, Charly Manson, publicly acknowledging their sibling relationship for the first time. They faced off in a singles match at Triplemanía XII where the loser would be forced to retire. Manson won the match, but Lady Apache pleaded with him not to force Electroshock's retirement and instead offered her own hair as "payment." Manson accepted, shaving her hair off, and Electroshock, in a gesture of sympathy, voluntarily shaved his own hair. In 2006, Electroshock briefly left AAA to wrestle for CMLL as "Electro" but returned to AAA after only a few matches.
3.3. Major groups and championships (2007-2010)
During this period, Electroshock was a prominent member of several significant factions and achieved major championship success, including winning the AAA Mega Championship and the Rey de Reyes tournament.
3.3.1. La Legión Extranjera (2007-2009)
After his brief departure from AAA, Electroshock became part of Konnan's La Legión Extranjera, engaging in a prominent feud with a group of AAA loyalists. In 2006, Charly Manson, Chessman, and Cibernético turned technicofaceSpanish and formed Los Hell Brothers. At the inaugural Antonio Peña Memorial Show in 2007, Electroshock, Abismo Negro, and El Zorro defeated Chessman, Cibernético, and El Intocable in the main event. La Legión Extranjera continued its success, with Electroshock, Bobby Lashley, and Kenzo Suzuki defeating Chessman, La Parka, and Silver King in a featured match at Triplemanía XVI. At the 2008 Antonio Peña Memorial Show, Konnan, Electroshock, Rellik, and Kenzo Suzuki collectively defeated "Team AAA" (Latin Lover, Octagón, La Parka, and Super Fly) in a steel cage elimination match. This victory, in storyline terms, granted La Legión control of AAA. In the ensuing months, Electroshock received increased exposure through the "Takeover storyline," which also led to his qualification for the 2009 Rey de Reyes tournament. He advanced to the finals by outlasting Octagón, Super Fly, and Nicho "El Millionaire", and ultimately became the 2009 Rey de Reyes by defeating La Parka, Silver King, and Latin Lover. The long-running "AAA vs. La Legión" storyline concluded at Triplemanía XVII, where La Legión (Electroshock, Silver King, Chessman, Kenzo Suzuki, and Teddy Hart) lost to "Team AAA" (El Hijo del Santo, La Parka, Vampiro, Octagón, and Jack Evans) in a steel cage match for control of AAA. Following this defeat, Konnan was "fired" by AAA owner Joaquin Roldan, and La Legión was officially disbanded.
3.3.2. Los Wagnermaniacos (2009-2010)
After Dr. Wagner, Jr.'s AAA Mega Championship victory at Triplemanía XVII, a new group formed consisting of Dr. Wagner, Jr., Silver King, Último Gladiador, and Electroshock. This faction adopted the name Los Wagnermaniacos in tribute to their leader. At the 2009 Verano de Escándalo event, Electroshock, Silver King, and Último Gladiador defeated La Parka, Marco Corleone, and Octagón. At Héroes Inmortales III, Charly Manson was scheduled to face Chessman in a Lucha de Apuestabet matchSpanish, but Manson unexpectedly left AAA. On the night of the show, Electroshock stepped in to replace his brother in the match, ultimately losing to Chessman. After the match, Electroshock had his head completely shaved bald, taking the loss that his brother was originally slated to endure. At the 2009 Guerra de Titanes, Los Wagnermaniacos were defeated by El Elegido, Extreme Tiger, and Pimpinela Escarlata, while Dr. Wagner, Jr. lost the AAA Mega Championship to El Mesías. In early 2010, Electroshock, as the reigning 2009 Rey de Reyes winner, asserted his right to compete in the AAA Mega Championship match against El Mesías scheduled for the 2010 Rey de Reyes event. This claim sparked animosity between Electroshock and Dr. Wagner, Jr. On March 12, 2010, Electroshock submitted Mr. Anderson in the main event of the 2010 Rey de Reyes, thereby winning the AAA Mega Championship without directly defeating the champion, El Mesías. Following the match, Dr. Wagner, Jr. and the other Wagnermaniacos came to the ring to congratulate Electroshock, seemingly resolving any internal tensions. However, at a subsequent AAA show, Dr. Wagner, Jr. requested a title match against Electroshock, a request that Electroshock declined, leading to a physical altercation between the two and effectively ending Electroshock's association with Los Wagnermaniacos.
3.3.3. Los Maniacos (2010)
At a later AAA event, Silver King, Dr. Wagner, Jr.'s storyline brother, intervened in a dispute between Electroshock and Dr. Wagner, Jr. by attacking his own brother, siding with Electroshock. Silver King declared that he prioritized friendship over family and would support Electroshock in the ongoing storyline. The duo, along with Último Gladiador, subsequently became known as Los Maniacos. Meanwhile, Dr. Wagner, Jr. turned técnicofaceSpanish and continued Los Wagnermaniacos with Pimpinela Escarlata and Octagón to balance the numbers. On April 26, 2010, AAA officially confirmed that Electroshock would defend the AAA Mega Championship against Dr. Wagner, Jr. in the main event of Triplemanía XVIII. In the build-up to this title match, the two faced off in a steel cage match on May 19, 2010, which Electroshock won with assistance from Los Maniacos, Silver King and Último Gladiador. On June 6, 2010, at Triplemanía XVIII, Electroshock lost the AAA Mega Championship to Dr. Wagner, Jr. After losing the title, Electroshock initiated a feud with Heavy Metal. In September 2010, Silver King and Último Gladiador announced their decision to join La Sociedad. Although Electroshock did not make an official statement regarding his own alignment, he agreed to represent the group at Héroes Inmortales IV in order to confront Heavy Metal. At the event, Electroshock, El Zorro, Hernandez, and L.A. Park were defeated by Heavy Metal, La Parka, Dark Ozz, and Dark Cuervo in an elimination steel cage match.
3.4. Turning technico and later AAA career (2010-2016)
Following his previous rudo alliances, Electroshock transitioned to a technico role, continued his championship pursuits, and later formed a new stable before departing AAA.
3.4.1. Technico turn (2010-2014)
On November 14, 2010, Electroshock officially announced that he was not a part of La Sociedad and encouraged Silver King and Último Gladiador to leave the group. Four days later, at an event in Naucalpan, he again declined an offer to join La Sociedad, resulting in a brutal assault by Silver King, Último Gladiador, and La Milicia, which solidified his transition to a técnicofaceSpanish persona. When Heavy Metal returned from injury on February 4, 2011, he and Electroshock began a Best of Five series, with the loser agreeing to have his hair shaved off. The fifth match, a Two Out of Three Falls Bull Terrier match, took place on March 18 at Rey de Reyes, where Heavy Metal emerged victorious after a guitar shot. Following the match, both Electroshock and Heavy Metal were attacked by members of La Sociedad, leading the former rivals to unite against their common enemy. On June 18, at Triplemanía XIX, Electroshock, Heavy Metal, and Joe Líder defeated Silver King, Último Gladiador, and Chessman in a Tables, Ladders and Chairs match. On October 9 at Héroes Inmortales, Electroshock won the 2011 Copa Antonio Peña by defeating eight other competitors. On August 5, 2012, at Triplemanía XX, Electroshock teamed with L.A. Park as part of "Team Joaquín Roldán" in a Hair vs. Hair match against "Team Dorian Roldán" (Jeff Jarrett and Kurt Angle), with the Roldáns' hair at stake. Electroshock secured the win for his team by pinning Kurt Angle, forcing Dorian Roldán to have his head shaved. However, after the match, the rudosheelsSpanish overpowered the técnicosfacesSpanish and shaved Joaquín Roldán bald as well. On December 8, 2013, at Guerra de Titanes, Electroshock received his first opportunity at the AAA Latin American Championship but was unsuccessful in dethroning the defending champion, Blue Demon, Jr.. On August 17, 2014, at Triplemanía XXII, Electroshock lost his hair to fellow técnicofaceSpanish El Mesías in a six-way steel cage Lucha de Apuestasbet matchSpanish that also included Averno, Blue Demon, Jr., Chessman, and La Parka.
3.4.2. Holocausto (2015)
After losing his hair to El Mesías, Electroshock initiated a storyline that suggested his potential retirement from professional wrestling. However, on January 23, 2015, he instead turned rudoheelSpanish and formed a new partnership with El Hijo de Pirata Morgan. This new stable led by Electroshock was later officially named Holocausto. On May 2, 2016, Electroshock departed from AAA.
3.5. Independent circuit and AAA return (2016-present)
Following his departure from AAA, Pozos adopted the new ring names "Mr. Elektro" or "Mr. Electro", as his former ring name, Electroshock, was owned by AAA. On June 12, 2016, Mr. Electro defeated Máscara Año 2000 Jr. by disqualification, thereby winning the IWRG Intercontinental Heavyweight Championship, as IWRG rules stipulate that a championship changes hands on a disqualification. He would hold this title twice.
On June 26, 2018, at a press conference, Electroshock announced his return to AAA, representing himself as part of the Elite League. On July 21, 2018, at AAA vs. Elite, Electroshock teamed with L.A. Park and Puma King as representatives of Liga Elite, defeating Team AAA (Psycho Clown, El Hijo del Fantasma, and Rey Wagner).
4. In-ring style
Electroshock is known for his distinctive wrestling style, often incorporating elements of strength and technical maneuvers. His signature moves include the Diamond Cutter and the Electro RockElectro RockSpanish submission, which transitions from an abdominal stretch into a figure-four leglock.
