2. Player Career
Zhao Xuri's professional football journey began in the early 2000s, progressing through various clubs in China before establishing himself as a key player both domestically and internationally. His career is marked by significant club achievements, including multiple league titles and continental championships, as well as extensive involvement with the Chinese national team.
2.1. Club Career
Zhao Xuri started his football career in 2002 with second-tier side Dalian Sidelong, though he did not make a significant impact on the squad during this period. However, his potential was recognized by top-tier club Sichuan First City, where he transferred. In the 2003 league season, Zhao quickly rose to prominence, establishing himself as an integral member of the team by playing in 27 league games and scoring two goals in his debut season. The following season, 2004, proved more challenging as Zhao was sidelined by injury for most of the season, making only nine appearances. Despite the injury, he remained highly regarded and was transferred to Dalian Shide at the start of the 2005 season. His versatility allowed him to quickly become a regular starter for Dalian Shide, and he contributed to the team winning the top-tier league title and the Chinese FA Cup in 2005. He remained with Dalian Shide until the end of the 2009 season.
At the start of the 2010 season, Zhao transferred to Shaanxi Renhe, where he played for two seasons, making 50 appearances. On December 26, 2011, Zhao transferred to Guangzhou Evergrande alongside Rong Hao, Li Jianbin, and Peng Xinli. He made his debut for Guangzhou Evergrande on February 25, 2012, in a 2-1 victory against Tianjin Teda in the 2012 Chinese FA Super Cup. His first goal for the club came on July 21, 2012, in a 2-1 win against Henan Jianye. He made his debut for the club on March 13, 2016, in a 3-0 win against Qingdao Huanghai, and scored his first goal on March 19, 2016, in a 5-2 victory against Zhejiang Yiteng. During the same tournament, he scored his first international goal on December 10, 2003, in a 3-1 victory against Hong Kong.
