At this event, she achieved remarkable success, winning three gold medals. Her victories included the 100-meter breaststroke, the 200-meter breaststroke, and the 4x100-meter medley relay.

Following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Yelena Rudkovskaya participated in the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain, representing the Unified Team. Her performance in Barcelona solidified her status as an Olympic champion.
