He holds the distinction of being the youngest ever Indonesian to be named the All Indonesian Champion and was recognized as Indonesia's best promising athlete in 2008. His grandfather, Benny Rungkat, was a former chairman of the Indonesian Air Carriers Association.

Rungkat spent his junior career primarily in Europe, competing on the European Junior Circuit. He received training at Tennis Val in Valencia, Spain, which contributed to his development as a promising young player. After turning professional, Rungkat secured his first international tournament title in June 2010 at the Tarakan Open International Men's Futures tournament in Tarakan. It took him 13 years after turning pro to win his maiden ATP Tour title in men's doubles.

Rungkat won his first ATP Tour title in February 2020 at the 2020 Maharashtra Open in Pune, India, partnering with Swedish player André Göransson. In this tournament, they defeated the fourth seeds and Rungkat's former partner Hsieh Cheng-peng and Denys Molchanov in the first round with a score of 3-6, 6-4, [10-8]. They then advanced to the quarterfinal by surprising the French team of Benoît Paire and Antoine Hoang in straight sets. In the semifinals, they secured their spot in the final with a victory over Romain Arneodo and Andre Begemann, winning 6-4, 7-6(7-1). In the final, Rungkat and Göransson defeated the third-seeded duo of Jonathan Erlich and Andrei Vasilevski in a super tie-break.
