An So-hyun (안소현An So-hyeonKorean, born December 28, 2001) is a South Korean figure skater specializing in single skating. She is known for her competitive achievements, including winning the bronze medal at the 2017 CS Minsk-Arena Ice Star and the 2015 South Korean Figure Skating Championships. An also competed in the final segment of the 2017 World Junior Figure Skating Championships.
2. Early Life and Education
An So-hyun was born on December 28, 2001, in Seoul, South Korea. She attended Shinmok High School (신목고등학교Korean).
3. Career
An So-hyun's figure skating career progressed through novice, junior, and senior levels, marked by consistent participation in national and international competitions.
3.1. Debut and Early Career
An began her competitive journey at an early age. In the 2012-13 figure skating season, she competed at the 2013 South Korean Figure Skating Championships in the novice category, where she earned a silver medal. The following season, in 2013-14 figure skating season, she won the junior gold medal at the 2014 South Korean Figure Skating Championships. Her international novice career included winning the gold medal at the Triglav Trophy in both 2014 and 2015, and placing fourth at the 2014 Asian Open Trophy.
3.2. Junior Career
An became age-eligible for junior international events during the 2015-2016 season. After placing third in a South Korean qualification competition, she received two assignments for the ISU Junior Grand Prix (JGP) series. She competed at the 2015 JGP event in Bratislava, Slovakia, where she placed eighth, and at the 2015 JGP event in Logroño, Spain, where she finished fifth.
In the 2016-17 figure skating season, An did not receive any JGP assignments. However, she was sent to the 2016 Autumn Classic International, where she secured the junior bronze medal. She later finished seventh at the 2017 South Korean Figure Skating Championships. An was subsequently assigned to the 2017 World Junior Figure Skating Championships in Taipei, Taiwan, after another skater withdrew. At this event, she successfully qualified for the free skate segment.
3.3. Senior Career
An So-hyun transitioned to the senior level of competition, making a significant impact early in her senior career. She won the bronze medal at the 2015 South Korean Figure Skating Championships. In the 2017-18 figure skating season, she achieved a bronze medal at the 2017 CS Minsk-Arena Ice Star, an ISU Challenger Series event. She also placed fourth at the 2017 Asian Open Trophy and finished 13th at the 2018 South Korean Figure Skating Championships.
