Mahmoud Khamees Al-Hammadi commenced his international career for the United Arab Emirates national football team in November 2007, making his debut in a friendly match against the Benin where the UAE suffered a defeat. He played the entire game during his debut.
In 2011, he was selected for the 2011 AFC Asian Cup squad. His tournament debut came in the match against the Iraq, where he played for 16 minutes as the UAE lost 0-1 in injury time.
His first international goal was scored nearly four years later, on September 6, 2011, against the Lebanon during the third round of 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification. Despite his goal, the UAE lost the match 1-3 and ultimately failed to qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
