Law Lok-lam

2.1. Birth and Early Life

Law Lok-lam was born in British Hong Kong. During his infancy, he briefly resided in Chaozhou, Guangdong, China. At the age of 14, he immigrated with his family to Macao. Before pursuing acting, he held various early jobs, including working at a plastic factory and accompanying truck drivers during shipment deliveries.

2.2. Education and Training

After graduating from high school, Law Lok-lam ventured into entrepreneurship by opening a small travel agency and also worked as a tour guide. At the age of 23, he formally began his acting training by enrolling in the artists class at Shaw Brothers. His initial steps into the entertainment world also included a theater debut in 1965 and a musical debut in 1967. He made his film debut in 1972, appearing in a minor role in the film Evil Guest.

Law Lok-lam began his television career in 1975 with the now-defunct Commercial Television (CTV). Seeking broader opportunities, he briefly worked as a film extra with Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) in 1976, participating in only one drama before returning to CTV.

3.2. Television Career Path

Following the cessation of CTV's operations in 1978, Law Lok-lam signed as an artiste with another now-defunct station, Asia Television (ATV), in 1979. He remained with ATV for nearly a decade before leaving in 1990 to re-join TVB. His return to TVB coincided with the increasing popularity of TVB dramas both locally and internationally, which significantly elevated his recognition as a television personality.

3.3. Notable Public Recognition

Law Lok-lam garnered international public attention in April 2011 when five TVB dramas in which he starred were broadcast on the same day, with all his characters meeting their demise. This unusual occurrence led to him being dubbed "the actor that died 5 times in one day" or "the actor that died 5 times in 24 hours." The specific dramas that aired on that day and featured his character's death were the 2011 series Grace Under Fire, Relic of an Emissary, the 2006 drama Face to Fate, the 2002 series Police Station No. 7, and the 2001 series Virtues of Harmony.

5.1. Marriage and Family

At the age of 21, Law Lok-lam married a distant cousin. This marriage resulted in two daughters. However, the marriage was short-lived, with Law later stating that he married too young and did not fully comprehend the meaning of marriage at the time.

After his first divorce, he met Chan Bo-yee, a fellow artiste at CTV. They first encountered each other in 1977 while co-starring in CTV's production of Dream of the Red Chamber. Chan Bo-yee is also the younger sister of the popular 1960s Hong Kong idol Connie Chan. Law and Chan Bo-yee married in 1982 and had a daughter named Tisha Law, who has also pursued a career as a TVB artiste. Despite divorcing in 2011 after many years of living in separate quarters within the same home, Law and Chan Bo-yee continued to co-habit due to the high cost of living in Hong Kong. In October 2012, his youngest daughter, Tisha Law, married Otto Chan, who was the 2006 Mr. Hong Kong runner-up and is also a current TVB artiste.

In 2014, Law Lok-lam was one of five artistes to be honored with the "TVB Professional Actor Awards" at the TVB Anniversary Awards. This award recognized his many years of dedicated service and significant contributions as a TVB employee.
