Henri Saivet

1.1. Youth Career

Saivet's foundational football years were spent at youth clubs including Cergy Clos and Bordeaux, where he played from 2002 to 2007. He was a prominent figure in French youth national teams, representing various age groups. For the U-16 team, he made 15 appearances and scored 8 goals between 2005 and 2006. He then progressed to the U-17 team from 2006 to 2007, featuring in 21 matches and scoring 9 goals. From 2007 to 2008, he played 4 times for the U-18 squad, netting 1 goal. Later, he appeared for the U-21 team between 2010 and 2012, accumulating 12 appearances and scoring 4 goals.

1.2. Bordeaux

In 2007, Saivet signed his first professional contract with Bordeaux, making him the youngest professional player in the club's history at just 17 years old. He subsequently made his professional debut during the 2007-08 season in a league match against RC Lens. Saivet made a significant contribution in the 2013 Coupe de France Final, scoring a goal that helped Bordeaux secure a 3-2 victory over Evian, clinching the Coupe de France title. During the 2010-11 season, Saivet was loaned to Angers, where he made 18 appearances and scored 3 goals.

2.1. Newcastle United

On 11 January 2016, Bordeaux manager Willy Sagnol confirmed that he had given Saivet permission to leave the club. Later that day, Saivet officially signed a five-and-a-half-year contract with Newcastle United, joining for a reported transfer fee of 5.00 M GBP. Despite the significant transfer, Saivet made only four appearances, starting twice, in his first half-season with Newcastle United.

He later returned to the first team on 23 August 2017, playing his first game for Newcastle since 6 February 2016, when he started an EFL Cup tie against Nottingham Forest. On 23 December, he scored a free kick in a crucial 3-2 Premier League win against West Ham United. For the 2019-20 season, he returned to Newcastle but was not registered with the first team.

2.2. Loan to Saint-Étienne

On 23 August 2016, after a limited number of appearances for Newcastle United, Saivet joined Saint-Étienne on a season-long loan. This agreement did not include an option for Saint-Étienne to purchase him permanently.

2.3. Loan to Sivasspor

On 31 January 2018, Henri Saivet made a loan move to Turkish club Sivasspor for the remainder of the 2017-18 season.

2.4. Loan to Bursaspor

On 25 August 2018, after making one appearance for Newcastle United at the start of the season, it was announced that Saivet would join another Turkish club, Bursaspor, on a season-long loan for the 2018-19 season.

3.1. Pau FC

In June 2022, after spending 18 months without a club due to injury, Saivet signed with French club Pau. During his time at Pau FC, he became a teammate of Vietnamese midfielder Nguyễn Quang Hải.

3.2. Clermont Foot

On 13 June 2024, following two seasons with Pau FC, Henri Saivet transferred to Clermont Foot, signing a two-year contract with the club.

4.1. Youth Teams

As a youth player, Saivet was a prominent figure in French youth football, playing for various national youth teams. He played for the French U-16 team (15 appearances, 8 goals), U-17 team (21 appearances, 9 goals), U-18 team (4 appearances, 1 goal), and U-21 team (12 appearances, 4 goals). At one point, he considered switching his allegiance to the Senegal national team if he was not selected by then-new France manager Didier Deschamps.

4.2. Senior Team

In 2013, Saivet agreed to represent Senegal, the country of his birth. He made his debut for the senior national team on 14 August 2013 in a friendly match against Zambia. He subsequently participated in the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. Saivet scored his first international goal on 19 January 2017, a free kick in a 2-0 victory against Zimbabwe during the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations held at Stade de Franceville in Gabon. He was also part of the Senegal squad that finished as runner-up in 2019. He accumulated 31 caps and scored 1 goal for the Senegal national team from 2013 to 2019.
