This passion was so strong that it led him to make a significant life decision: he abandoned his secondary education back in his home village of Manasu'u to fully pursue his football aspirations. His ambition was deeply inspired by his close relative, Batram Suri, who holds the distinction of being the first professional soccer player from the Solomon Islands. Following Suri's pioneering path, Maemae moved to Honiara, the capital city, where he began his professional journey with Koloale FC. It was in Honiara that his skillful play started to gain widespread recognition and popularity.
