Sorba Thomas

2.1. Birth and family background

Benjamin Sorba William Thomas was born on January 25, 1999, in London, England. He is the son of a Sierra Leonean father and a Welsh mother. He qualifies for representation by the Wales national team through his mother, who was born in Newport. He stands at 73 in ^{(185 cm)} tall.

2.2. Youth career

Thomas began his youth football career as a product of the West Ham United academy. At the age of 16, he joined the youth academy of Boreham Wood. He was an instrumental player for Boreham Wood's under-18 side during the 2016-17 season, a period during which the team reached the second round of the FA Youth Cup, notably achieving a victory over English Football League side Northampton Town.

3.1. Boreham Wood

Thomas began his senior career at Boreham Wood at the age of 17. In January 2018, he embarked on a one-month loan spell with Isthmian League North side Cheshunt to gain further experience.

3.2. Huddersfield Town

On January 13, 2021, Thomas signed a contract with Huddersfield Town, valid until the end of the 2023-24 season, with the club retaining an option for a further year's extension. His professional debut for Huddersfield occurred on February 13, 2021, in an EFL Championship match against Wycombe Wanderers, which resulted in a 3-2 loss.

During the first Championship game of the 2021-22 season, a 1-1 draw against Derby County on August 7, 2021, Thomas recorded his first assist, delivering a free kick cross that was headed in by Naby Sarr. In the subsequent game, a 5-1 home defeat to Fulham, he was involved in Fulham's opening goal due to an overhit backpass, but he later provided an assist for Huddersfield's only goal from a corner kick, which Matty Pearson scored with a header.

On August 28, 2021, he achieved a significant milestone by scoring his first goal for the club and providing two assists in a commanding 4-0 home victory against Reading. He took possession of the ball at the halfway line, skillfully dribbled into the penalty area, and executed a low shot past the goalkeeper. For his outstanding performances, Thomas was awarded the EFL Championship Player of the Month for August 2021 on September 10, 2021. A week before the 2022 EFL Championship play-off final, on May 19, 2022, Thomas secured a new long-term contract with Huddersfield Town, extending his commitment to the club until 2026.

3.3. Loan spells

Thomas has undertaken several loan spells during his time at Huddersfield Town to gain additional playing experience.

4.1. England C team

In March 2020, Thomas received his first call-up to the England C team for a scheduled fixture against the Wales C team. However, this match was ultimately postponed due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.

4.2. Wales national team

On September 28, 2021, Thomas earned his first call-up to the senior Wales national squad for their 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against the Czech Republic and Estonia. He made his senior international debut for Wales on October 8, 2021, coming on as a second-half substitute in a 2-2 draw against the Czech Republic. Three days later, he played his first full 90 minutes in the match against Estonia. In November 2022, his consistent performances earned him a place in the Wales squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup held in Qatar.
