1. Early Career
Patrik Carlgren started his football development within the youth teams of Samuelsdals IF. He then transitioned to senior football, spending two years with Falu FK. During his time at Falu FK, he made 25 league appearances between 2009 and 2011. Following his tenure there, Carlgren played two seasons for IK Brage in the Superettan, Sweden's second-tier league. In July 2013, Carlgren signed with Swedish club AIK Fotboll. He made his Allsvenskan debut on 8 May 2014, in a match against Halmstads BK. During his three seasons with AIK, Carlgren became a key player, making 75 league appearances and 11 appearances in European competitions, contributing significantly to the team's performance.
2.2. FC Nordsjælland
In February 2017, Carlgren moved to Denmark, signing with Danish Superliga club FC Nordsjælland. He played a brief period with the club, making 5 league appearances during the 2016-17 season.
2.3. Konyaspor
In July 2017, Carlgren signed a two-year contract with Turkish Süper Lig club Konyaspor. Although his time there was relatively short, he made 1 league appearance and 4 cup appearances. During his spell with Konyaspor, he notably won the TFF Süper Kupa in 2017, marking a significant club honour.
2.4. Randers FC
On 8 July 2018, Carlgren returned to Denmark, signing a three-year contract with Randers FC. 3. International Career
Patrik Carlgren has represented Sweden at both youth and senior international levels, achieving notable success with the U21 team and being part of the senior squad for a major tournament.
3.1. Youth Career
Carlgren was an integral part of the Swedish U21 national team. His most significant achievement with the youth squad came in 2015 when Sweden won the 2015 UEFA European Under-21 Championship. In the final match against Portugal, held in Prague, the game ended in a 0-0 draw. Carlgren's heroics in the subsequent penalty shootout were crucial, as he saved penalties from Ricardo Esgaio and William Carvalho, helping Sweden secure their first-ever title in the tournament. He made 18 appearances for the Sweden U21 team between 2013 and 2015.

3.2. Senior Career
Carlgren received his first call-up to the senior Sweden national team in November 2015 for the UEFA Euro 2016 play-off against Denmark. He made his full international debut on 10 January 2016, in a friendly match against Finland, which Sweden won 3-0. Carlgren played for 62 minutes in that match before being substituted by Jacob Rinne. Later that year, he was included in the Sweden squad for UEFA Euro 2016, serving as a backup goalkeeper behind experienced players Andreas Isaksson and Robin Olsen.
