Karl Wilhelm Svensson was born on 21 March 1984, in Jönköping, Jönköping County, Sweden. He began his professional football career with his boyhood club, Jönköpings Södra IF. Svensson stands at 74 in (189 cm) tall.
2. Club career
Karl Svensson's club career spanned across Sweden, Scotland, and France, marked by initial success in his home country, a challenging period abroad, and a return to his roots before retirement.
2.1. Jönköpings Södra IF
Svensson started his professional career at his boyhood club, Jönköpings Södra IF, making his debut in 2002. This initial spell with the club laid the foundation for his professional journey before he moved to a larger Swedish club.
2.2. IFK Göteborg (First Stint)
Ahead of the 2003 Allsvenskan season, Svensson signed with IFK Göteborg. During his first period with the club, he was an integral part of the team that reached the 2004 Svenska Cupen final. However, IFK Göteborg ultimately lost the final match 3-1 to Djurgårdens IF. In that final, Svensson was sent off after receiving two yellow cards. He remained with IFK Göteborg until 2006.
2.3. Rangers F.C.
On 26 May 2006, Svensson made a move to Scottish club Rangers F.C. for an undisclosed fee, reported to be in the region of 600.00 K GBP. He signed a three-year contract with the Glasgow-based side. Svensson made his debut for Rangers in the opening match of the Scottish Premier League season, a 2-1 away victory against Motherwell on 30 July 2006. Despite this start, he made a total of 27 Scottish Premier League appearances during his time with Rangers but saw significantly limited playing time from February 2007 onwards.
2.4. Stade Malherbe Caen
On 27 June 2007, Svensson signed a three-year contract with French club Caen, which had recently been promoted to Ligue 1. His tenure in France was largely affected by a series of injuries, which severely limited his opportunities for game time on the pitch. He played for Caen until 2009.
2.5. Return to Sweden and Retirement
After his spell in France, Svensson returned to Sweden. On 19 January 2009, he signed a four-year contract with his former club, IFK Göteborg, marking his second stint with the team. Following this, on 23 December 2011, he signed a three-year contract with his hometown club, Jönköpings Södra IF, which was then playing in the Swedish second division, Superettan. Karl Svensson concluded his professional football career after the 2014 Superettan season, retiring from the sport.

Svensson represented the Sweden national U17, U19, and U21 teams, gaining experience at different age groups before progressing to the senior squad.
3.2. Senior National Team
Svensson earned his first and only full international appearance for the Sweden national team in January 2006, in a match against Saudi Arabia. Despite his limited senior appearances, he was included in Sweden's squad for the 2006 FIFA World Cup held in Germany. He was assigned squad number 15, and the team was coached by Lars Lagerbäck. However, he did not feature in any matches during the tournament.
