1. Club career
Julian Schieber's club career began with VfB Stuttgart, where he progressed through the youth ranks before making his professional debut. His journey included a successful loan spell at 1. FC Nürnberg, a move to Borussia Dortmund where he achieved significant club honors, and later stints with Hertha BSC and FC Augsburg.
1.1. VfB Stuttgart
Schieber joined the youth academy of VfB Stuttgart in 2006. He made his Bundesliga debut on 6 December 2008, in a match against Energie Cottbus. On 21 January 2009, he extended his contract with VfB Stuttgart until the summer of 2011. In February 2009, Schieber played his first international club match in the UEFA Cup against FC Zenit St. Petersburg. He scored his first Bundesliga goal on 15 August 2009, in the Baden-Württemberg derby against SC Freiburg, a match that VfB Stuttgart won 4-2. He further showcased his scoring ability on 26 September 2009, by netting two goals in a 3-0 away victory against Eintracht Frankfurt in Frankfurt am Main. In July 2010, Schieber was loaned out to 1. FC Nürnberg for the remainder of the season. During his time at Stuttgart, he also played for VfB Stuttgart II, making 23 appearances and scoring 13 goals in the 3. Liga between 2008 and 2010.
1.2. 1. FC Nürnberg (loan)
During his loan spell at 1. FC Nürnberg for the 2010-11 season, Julian Schieber made a significant impact. He appeared in 29 Bundesliga matches, scoring 7 goals. In addition, he played in 4 German Cup matches, where he scored 3 goals. Overall, he accumulated 33 appearances and 10 goals for the club during this period.
1.3. Borussia Dortmund
For the 2012-13 season, Schieber made a permanent transfer to Borussia Dortmund. He scored his first European goal for the club on 4 December 2012, in a 1-0 UEFA Champions League victory against Manchester City. In April 2013, he scored two goals in a 4-2 Bundesliga win for Dortmund against FC Augsburg. In June of the same year, Schieber and his team reached the 2013 UEFA Champions League final, where they narrowly lost 2-1 to rivals FC Bayern Munich in the final minutes of the match. On 27 July 2013, Schieber helped Borussia Dortmund secure the 2013 DFL-Supercup title with a 4-2 victory over Bayern Munich. He also made one appearance for Borussia Dortmund II in the 3. Liga during the 2013-14 season.

1.4. Hertha BSC
On 3 July 2014, Julian Schieber signed a four-year contract with Hertha BSC. He scored his first goal for the club on 16 August 2014, in a 4-2 win against FC Viktoria Köln in the DFB-Pokal. A notable moment came on 13 December 2014, when he scored the only goal in a 1-0 victory over his former club, Borussia Dortmund, a result that pushed Dortmund into a relegation play-off spot at the time. He also made one appearance for Hertha BSC II in the Regionalliga Nordost during the 2017-18 season.
1.5. FC Augsburg
On 22 May 2018, it was announced that Julian Schieber would be transferring to FC Augsburg. This marked the final club phase of his professional career. During his tenure at FC Augsburg, he made 11 appearances and scored 1 goal.
2. International career
Julian Schieber represented Germany at the youth international level. He made his debut for the German under-21 team on 4 September 2009, in a match against San Marino. In that game, he scored two goals, contributing to a comprehensive 6-0 victory. Overall, Schieber made 7 appearances for the German U-21 squad, scoring 5 goals.
