3.1. Early Activities and Music Debut

Jing Boran's journey into the entertainment industry began in 2007 when he competed in the Chinese talent contest My Hero. His exceptional talent led him to win the top prize, which subsequently secured him a contract with the Chinese entertainment company Huayi Brothers. Shortly after his victory, he formed the boy band BoBo with Fu Xinbo, who had finished as the third-place winner in the same competition. In October 2007, BoBo released their debut extended play (EP) titled Glory (光荣_Guāngróng^Chinese). The group continued to release music, including albums such as The Big World (世界之大_{Shìjiè Zhī Dà}^Chinese), Warm Hands (暖暖手_{Nuǎnnuǎnshǒu}^Chinese), and Let's BoBo. Although Jing Boran initially pursued a music career, he began to develop a passion for acting. His first television role was in the series Nonstop (青春进行时_{Qīngchūn Jìnxíng Shí}^Chinese), where he played Jing Bao, receiving positive feedback from critics. He made his feature film debut in the 2010 Chinese romance film Hot Summer Days (全城热恋_{Quán Chéng Rè Liàn}^Chinese), a role that earned him the Best New Actor award at the Beijing College Student Film Festival. This performance also garnered him a nomination for Best New Performer at the 30th Hong Kong Film Awards. Building on this early success, Jing Boran committed to refining his acting skills by exploring diverse film genres. In June 2011, he signed a recording deal with Seed Music and released his self-titled debut studio album, Jing Boran (井柏然首张同名专辑_{Jǐng Bórán Shǒuzhāng Tóngmíng Zhuānjí}^Chinese), which topped charts in both mainland China and Taiwan, earning him a Global Chinese Golden Chart Award for Best New Artist. Other notable early film roles include Wang Can in the romance film Up in the Wind (2013), where he portrayed a wealthy heir seeking meaning in life.

3.3. Breakthrough and Rising Popularity

Jing Boran's career reached new heights starting in 2015. He gained significant popularity through his role in the time-travel romance drama Love Weaves Through a Millennium (相爱穿梭千年_{Xiāng'ài Chuānsuō Qiānnián}^Chinese) and his appearance on the travel reality show Divas Hit the Road. His on-screen chemistry and friendship with co-star Zheng Shuang became a widely discussed topic online.

The same year, he starred alongside Hong Kong actor Andy Lau in the road drama film Lost and Love (失孤_Shīgū^Chinese). His portrayal of Zeng Shuai, a bike mechanic orphaned from a young age, earned him a Best Supporting Actor nomination at the Golden Rooster Awards and won him the Best Supporting Actor award at the 13th Changchun Film Festival. His major breakthrough came with the fantasy comedy film Monster Hunt (捉妖记_{Zhuō Yāo Jì}^Chinese). The film was a massive commercial success, grossing over 1.80 B CNY and becoming one of the highest-grossing films in China, propelling Jing Boran to mainstream fame.

In 2016, Jing Boran continued his string of box office successes with the adventure film Time Raiders (盗墓笔记_{Dàomù Bǐjì}^Chinese), based on the novel Tomb Raiders. This film was the only summer release in China that year to surpass 1.00 B CNY at the box office. He also starred in the romance-gaming film Love O2O (微微一笑很倾城_{Wéiwéi Yīxiào Hěn Qīngchéng}^Chinese) alongside Angelababy.

In 2017, it was announced that Jing Boran would return to television in the fantasy period drama The Love of Hypnosis (一曲三笙_{Yī Qǔ Sān Shēng}^Chinese, also known as 南煙齋筆錄) with Liu Yifei. He reprised his role in the sequel, Monster Hunt 2 (捉妖记2_{Zhuō Yāo Jì 2}^Chinese), released in 2018. That same year, he starred in the romance film Us and Them (后来的我们_{Hòulái de Wǒmen}^Chinese), directed by Taiwanese actress Rene Liu. This film was a significant hit in China, earning 191.00 M USD in its first two weekends.

In 2019, Jing Boran starred in the crime suspense film The Shadow Play (风中有朵雨做的云_{Fēng Zhōng Yǒu Duǒ Yǔ Zuò de Yún}^Chinese), directed by Lou Ye. He also co-starred in the adventure drama film The Climbers (攀登者_{Pāndēng Zhě}^Chinese). More recently, he has appeared in television dramas such as Psychologist (2021), A League of Nobleman (2023), Road Home (2023), and Regeneration (2024).
