1. Club career
Ivan Sergeyev has had a dynamic club career, progressing through various Russian leagues and experiencing significant success, particularly during his time with Krylia Sovetov and Zenit Saint Petersburg.
1.1. Strogino Moscow
Sergeyev began his professional career with Strogino Moscow. He made his professional debut in the Russian Professional Football League (then known as the Russian Second League) for the club on 19 April 2014, in a match against Lokomotiv-2 Moscow.
1.2. Tambov
Following his stint with Strogino Moscow, Sergeyev joined Tambov. He made his Russian Football National League (then known as the Russian First League) debut for Tambov on 4 March 2018 in a game against Rotor Volgograd.
1.3. Torpedo Moscow
Sergeyev moved to Torpedo Moscow, initially on loan during the 2018-19 season. His performance during this loan spell led to him signing a permanent two-year contract with the club on 11 June 2019.
1.4. Krylia Sovetov
On 14 August 2020, Sergeyev signed a two-year contract with Krylia Sovetov Samara. His first season with the club was exceptionally productive. Krylia Sovetov won the 2020-21 Russian Football National League title, and Sergeyev himself set a new record for the most goals in a single season of the Russian second tier, scoring 39 goals by 5 May 2021. He concluded the season with an impressive total of 40 goals. Following their promotion, he made his Russian Premier League debut for Krylia Sovetov Samara on 25 July 2021, in a match against Akhmat Grozny.
1.5. Zenit Saint Petersburg
On 10 January 2022, Zenit Saint Petersburg announced the signing of Sergeyev on a three-season contract. During his time with Zenit, he played a crucial role in securing league titles. Notably, on 7 May 2023, Sergeyev scored an added-time winner in a pivotal match against Spartak Moscow, which ultimately secured the 2022-23 Russian Premier League title for Zenit.
1.6. Return to Krylia Sovetov
Sergeyev made a return to Krylia Sovetov on 5 September 2024, signing a new three-year contract. In a significant return match on 1 December 2024, he scored two goals and was named man of the match at Gazprom Arena. In this game, Krylia Sovetov defeated his former club, Zenit, with a score of 3-2.
2. International career
Ivan Sergeyev has also represented his country at the international level, making his debut for the Russia national football team.
He received his first call-up to the Russia national football team in October 2021. This call-up was for the World Cup qualifiers against Cyprus and Croatia, and he was included in an extended list of 41 candidates for the squad. Sergeyev made his official debut for the national team on 16 October 2023, featuring in a friendly match against Kenya.
