2. Early life and youth career

Hugo Larsson was born on 27 June 2004, in Svarte, a locality within Ystad, Sweden. He began his football career at a young age, playing for local club teams. From 2009 to 2015, he played for SoGK Charlo. Following this, he spent the 2015-2016 season with Ystads IF. At the age of 12, in 2016, Larsson signed with the youth team of Malmö FF, one of Sweden's most successful clubs, where he continued his development before being promoted to the senior squad.

Hugo Larsson's professional club career began at Malmö FF before his move to Eintracht Frankfurt.

3.1. Malmö FF

Larsson joined the senior squad of Malmö FF in 2022 at the age of 17. He made his senior debut for the club on 20 February 2022, coming on as a late substitute in a Svenska Cupen match against GAIS, which Malmö FF won 5-1. His Allsvenskan debut followed on 11 April 2022, where he played for 45 minutes in a 1-1 draw against IF Elfsborg. Larsson scored his first professional goal for Malmö FF on 6 November 2022, in a match against Degerfors IF.

The 2022 season saw Malmö FF finish seventh in the Allsvenskan, but it was a breakthrough year for Larsson. He played a joint-highest 46 games for the club across all competitions and was recognized with the Allsvenskan Young Player of the Year award. In his final home game for Malmö FF, held on 5 June 2023, before his announced transfer, Larsson scored the opening goal in a dominant 5-0 victory. He received a standing ovation from the fans when he was substituted in the 82nd minute.

Hugo Larsson has represented Sweden at various youth levels before making his debut for the senior national team. He has played for the U19 and U21 teams. For the U19 team, he made 9 appearances, and for the U21 team, he has made 2 appearances, scoring 1 goal. Larsson received his first call-up to the senior Sweden national team in January 2023. He made his full international debut on 9 January 2023, starting in a friendly match against Finland. Sweden won the match 2-0, and Larsson played for 68 minutes before being substituted for Bilal Hussein.
