In 1997, he generated public discussion by publishing a hair nude photo book of his then-wife, Kimie Shingyoji, which he had personally photographed.

Coincidentally, on the same day of Oguchi's death, January 25, a memorial event for Dave Hirao of The Golden Cups was held in Yokohama, bringing together many Group Sounds members, including Sawada and Kishibe.
Following his death, memorial concerts were held to honor his legacy. A tribute concert took place on January 25, 2010, at duo MUSIC EXCHANGE in Shibuya, and another on November 27, 2010, at THE CLUB SENSATION in Yokohama.
