1. Early life and background

Franco Daniel Jara was born on 15 July 1988, in Villa María, a city located in the Córdoba Province of Argentina. His early life and football journey began in his home country before he moved to play professionally abroad.
2. Club career
Franco Jara's professional club career began in Argentina, then extended to Europe and North America, where he played for several notable clubs.
2.1. Arsenal de Sarandí
Jara made his professional debut with Arsenal de Sarandí in the Primera División on 23 May 2008. This match was a 0-1 home loss against Argentinos Juniors. He scored his first goal for the club on 10 April of the following year, in a 1-1 draw against Club Atlético Colón.
2.2. SL Benfica
On 30 January 2010, Jara signed a five-year contract with Portuguese champions S.L. Benfica. The transfer fee for his move was 5.50 M EUR, and the deal became effective at the beginning of the 2010-11 season. He quickly made an impact, scoring in his second official game on 15 August, despite a 1-2 home loss to Académica de Coimbra. In his first season with Benfica, Jara made a total of 43 competitive appearances and scored 11 goals. During his tenure with Benfica, he was also loaned out to several clubs.
2.3. Granada CF
In late August 2011, while still under contract with Benfica, Jara was loaned to Granada CF, a side that had recently been promoted to La Liga in Spain. He moved to the Andalusia region alongside several of his Benfica teammates.
2.4. San Lorenzo de Almagro
On 21 July 2012, Jara returned to Argentina on loan, joining San Lorenzo de Almagro. He played for the club during the 2012-13 campaign.
2.5. Estudiantes de La Plata
Jara's loan spells in Argentina continued into the 2013-14 campaign, when he joined Estudiantes de La Plata.
2.6. Olympiacos F.C.
On 24 January 2015, Franco Jara signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with Greek club Olympiacos F.C. for a transfer fee of 1.50 M EUR. He made his Super League Greece debut on 1 February in a 2-0 away victory over Veria FC. Two months later, he scored his first goal for Olympiacos in a 3-1 win against Panthrakikos FC. On 23 May 2015, in the final of the Greek Football Cup, Jara intercepted a backward pass in the last minute of the first half, contributing to Olympiacos's record 27th cup conquest with a 3-1 victory over Skoda Xanthi F.C. at the Olympic Stadium.
2.7. C.F. Pachuca
On 9 September 2015, Jara moved to Mexico, joining C.F. Pachuca on a free transfer. He enjoyed a highly successful period with the club, scoring a career-best 17 goals in the 2015-16 Liga MX season, which helped Pachuca win the Clausura tournament. In the following season's CONCACAF Champions League, he scored six goals in eight matches and was voted the competition's best player, earning the Golden Ball award as Pachuca became champions.
2.8. FC Dallas
Jara signed with FC Dallas of Major League Soccer on 21 January 2020, with the deal becoming effective in July of that year. He played for the club for over two seasons before mutually agreeing to terminate his contract on 10 January 2023.
2.9. Club Atlético Belgrano
Following his departure from FC Dallas, Franco Jara signed a contract with Belgrano on 11 January 2023, returning to his home country as a free agent.
3. International career
Franco Jara has represented the Argentina national team on several occasions. On 19 January 2010, he received his first call-up to the national squad for a friendly match against Costa Rica, which took place on January 27. Argentina won the game 3-2, with Jara scoring the match-winning goal. He earned his second cap on 10 February 2010, in a 2-1 victory against Jamaica.
4. Personal life
On 10 September 2014, Franco Jara was involved in a car accident where his vehicle crashed into a tree. Fortunately, he did not suffer any major injuries from the incident.
