Filippo Terracciano (born 8 February 2003) is an Italian professional footballer who plays as a full-back or midfielder for AC Milan in Serie A. Known for his exceptional tactical versatility and near ambidexterity, Terracciano can perform effectively in numerous positions across most modern formations, including as a full-back or wing-back on either flank, a central or box-to-box midfielder, and occasionally as a winger. He stands 73 in (186 cm) tall and primarily uses his right foot.
2. Early life
Filippo Terracciano was born on 8 February 2003 in Verona, Veneto, Italy. His father, Antonio Terracciano, was also a professional footballer.
3. Club career
Terracciano began his professional football journey at Hellas Verona, where he developed through their youth academy before making his senior debut. His talent eventually led to a move to AC Milan, marking a significant step in his career.
3.1. Hellas Verona
Terracciano grew up within the youth organization of Hellas Verona. He made his professional debut for the club on 15 December 2021, in a Coppa Italia match against Empoli, entering the game as a substitute in the 40th minute of the second half. Following his cup debut, he made his Serie A debut on 20 March 2022, also against Empoli, coming on as a substitute in the 39th minute of the second half. He remained with Hellas Verona until January 2024, accumulating 41 appearances across all competitions.
3.2. AC Milan
On 8 January 2024, Filippo Terracciano transferred to fellow Serie A club AC Milan. The reported transfer fee was 4.50 M EUR, with an additional 1.50 M EUR in add-ons, and a 10% sell-on clause on any future sale. He signed a contract with AC Milan that extends until 30 June 2028. He was assigned squad number 42.
Terracciano made his debut for AC Milan on 10 January 2024, in the Coppa Italia quarter-final match against Atalanta BC. He entered the game as a substitute in the 61st minute, replacing Davide Calabria. According to AC Milan's senior team head coach, Stefano Pioli, Terracciano was specifically signed to operate in a full-back position.
4. International career
Filippo Terracciano has represented Italy at various youth international levels, demonstrating his progression through the national team ranks. He has been called up and played for the Italian U-18, U-19, U-20, and U-21 national squads.
He earned one cap for the Italy U-18 team in 2021. From 2021 to 2022, he made seven appearances for the Italy U-19 team. He has played eight matches and scored one goal for the Italy U-20 team since 2022.
Terracciano received his first call-up to the Italy U-21 team on 14 November 2022, as a replacement for the injured Andrea Cambiaso. He subsequently made his debut for the U-21 squad on 19 November 2022, in a friendly match against the Germany U-21 team, held at the Stadio del Conero in Ancona.
