Eri Kikuchi was born on April 5, 1965, in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan.

1.2. Entry into the Adult Entertainment Industry

Kikuchi started her career in the adult entertainment sector in her late teens, working in various forms of fuzoku, including hotels and soaplands. She also made appearances in several underground pornographic films. In 1984, the underground video Miecchatta (みえちゃった^Japanese) gained significant attention among enthusiasts, marking a pivotal moment that led her to formally enter the adult video industry. Kikuchi made her official adult video (AV) debut at the age of twenty with Beautiful D-Cup Girl, Sister L (D-CUP美少女 シスターＬ_{D-Cup Bishojo Sister L}^Japanese), released in September 1985 by CineMagic. This work is considered a masterpiece in AV history, achieving widespread popularity among both BDSM and general AV fans. In this film, Kikuchi's image as a "nun" (修道女_shūdōjo^Japanese) engaged in bondage became iconic. Despite the film featuring intense SM play such as spanking, anal, and scat, Kikuchi herself stated she did not have a personal interest in SM. She frequently co-starred with director Nakano D-ji at CineMagic, as she was affiliated with his agency.

Her pink film debut was with Million Film in Miss 20 Year-Old Momoko (ミス２０才 快感！百合子の本番^Japanese) in 1986. Eri Kikuchi is widely credited as the first adult video performer in Japan whose career was primarily built around her exceptionally large breasts for the time. This pioneering role led her to become a central figure in the "Kyonyu Boom" (巨乳ブーム_{Big Bust genre}^Japanese), a phenomenon that gained significant momentum in the late 1980s following the debut of Kimiko Matsuzaka in 1989. After returning to Japan in 1997, she worked at the actress bar "AVnormal" (AVnormal^Japanese, now closed) in Roppongi, which hosted around 30 other AV actresses, including Mariko Itsuki and Saki Kurihara. In May 2003, she became an honorary special lecturer at the AV Cultures School, which is regarded as the world's first specialized school for AV production. The school was founded by male AV actor Shinji Kubo with the aim of training aspiring AV directors.

In December 2004, at the age of 39, Kikuchi made a notable return to the AV industry, starring in a series of videos for Madonna, a studio specializing in "mature" actresses. She also rejoined CineMagic, the company where she debuted 20 years earlier, starring in Mourning Dress Slave / Eri Kikuchi (喪服奴隷 菊池えり^Japanese) in July 2005. This was part of CineMagic's famous "mourning dress" series, characterized by narratives featuring beautiful women in solemn mourning attire engaging in sexual acts, often involving rope bondage.

Kikuchi's continued presence in the industry, even into her 40s, was remarkable in a field where most careers typically last only one or two years. As of 2013 and 2018, she was reportedly working at a fashion health establishment in Nagoya. She is quoted as saying that even after retiring from the video world, she believes she "can be more beautiful naked."
