1. Club Career
Emanuel Mammana's professional club career began in Argentina with River Plate before he moved to European football, playing for Olympique Lyonnais in France and Zenit Saint Petersburg in Russia. He later returned to River Plate and is currently with Vélez Sarsfield.
1.1. River Plate (First Stint)
Mammana made his professional debut for River Plate on December 3, 2014, participating in the first leg of the 2014 Copa Sudamericana Final. He scored his first senior goal for the club on March 14, 2016, in a match against Colón, which River Plate ultimately lost 4-1.
1.2. Olympique Lyonnais
On July 7, 2016, Mammana signed a five-year contract with French club Lyon. During his time with the club, he scored his first goal for Lyon in a 1-1 draw against Bordeaux.
1.3. Zenit Saint Petersburg
On July 31, 2017, Mammana moved to Russia, signing a five-year contract with FC Zenit Saint Petersburg. His tenure at Zenit was significantly impacted by injuries. On March 11, 2018, during a game against FC Rostov, he suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury. This severe injury sidelined him for nearly six months, causing him to miss the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Following his recovery, he struggled to regain a regular place in the lineup during the 2018-19 season. On October 6, 2019, he suffered another ligament injury in a match against FC Ural Yekaterinburg, which kept him out of action for an additional nine months, returning only for the final game of the 2019-20 season. In June 2021, after completing a loan spell with Sochi, Zenit assigned him to train with their second team, FC Zenit-2 Saint Petersburg. His contract with Zenit was ultimately terminated by mutual consent on January 7, 2022.
1.3.1. Loan to Sochi
During his time with Zenit Saint Petersburg, Emanuel Mammana had two loan spells with PFC Sochi. His first loan began on August 7, 2020, for the 2020-21 season. He returned to Sochi for a second loan spell on July 19, 2021, for the 2021-22 season.
1.4. River Plate (Second Stint)
Following the mutual termination of his contract with Zenit, Mammana returned to his former club, River Plate, on January 10, 2022. He rejoined the team, contributing to their subsequent performances.
1.5. Vélez Sarsfield
Mammana currently plays as a centre-back for Argentine Primera División club Vélez Sarsfield.
2. International Career
Emanuel Mammana has represented the Argentina national team at both youth and senior levels. He played for the Argentina U20 team. His debut for the senior national team came on June 7, 2014, in a 2-0 victory against Slovenia, where he came on as a substitute for Javier Mascherano in the 77th minute.
