Elena Satine

2.1. Childhood and Education

Satine was born on November 24, 1987, in Tbilisi, the capital of what was then the Georgian Soviet Socialist Republic (modern-day Georgia). Her mother was an opera singer, actress, and former model, while her father worked in the textile industry. At the age of five, Satine and her family relocated to Sochi, Russia. She quickly became involved in the Georgian pop group Nergebi, an ensemble of child performers similar to the Mickey Mouse Club. She toured extensively with Nergebi throughout Eastern Europe, including an appearance on the children's variety show Utrennaya Zvezda (Morning Star). After her time with the group, she embarked on a solo singing career. At nine years old, Satine achieved recognition as the youngest performer to headline at the Kinotavr Festival.

In 1998, at the age of ten, while accompanying her mother on a business trip, Satine secretly auditioned for the Professional Performing Arts School (PPAS) in New York City. She was immediately accepted into the program. After convincing her parents to allow her to study in the United States, Satine moved to New York and graduated from PPAS at 16. She continued her dramatic studies at the prestigious Moscow Art Theatre School in Russia and also at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, England.

2.2. Early Music Career

Satine's musical journey began early in her childhood. At the age of five, she joined Nergebi, a Georgian pop group composed of child performers. With Nergebi, she toured extensively across Eastern Europe, gaining performance experience and appearing on popular children's programs like Utrennaya Zvezda. Following her time with the group, Satine transitioned into a solo singing career, further developing her vocal talents.

3.1. Television Roles

Satine made her television debut in an episode of Cold Case in 2008, portraying an immigrant Russian singer. She subsequently appeared in other television series, including Gemini Division (2008), CW's Melrose Place (2009), and the season 10 Smallville episode "Patriot" (2010), where she played Mera, the wife of Aquaman. In 2010, she also appeared on ITV's Poirot in an episode adapting Murder on the Orient Express, playing Countess Andrenyi. In 2011, she had a role in NCIS.

From 2012 to 2013, Satine was a main cast member of the Starz series Magic City, where she played Judi Silver. The producers specifically tailored the role for Satine after her initial audition for a different part. In 2014, she appeared in two episodes of ABC's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., portraying Lorelei, a villainous Asgardian. Following this, she took on another significant role on ABC, playing Louise Ellis in Revenge. Initially a recurring guest star, Satine was promoted to the main cast eleven episodes into the fourth season.

In 2014, she also appeared in three episodes of Matador. In 2016, Satine played Judith Campbell in an episode of Timeless. The year 2017 saw her in two episodes of Twin Peaks as Rhonda, and she also appeared in 24: Legacy as Juliana Mehmeti. Later in 2017, she took on the recurring role of Sonya Simonson / Dreamer in the Fox television series The Gifted, appearing in nine episodes. In 2018, she had a recurring role as Maggie Donovan in Strange Angel. In August 2019, Satine was cast as Julia in the live-action adaptation of the Cowboy Bebop series for Netflix, where she played a main role. The series was subsequently canceled after its first season in 2021.

3.2. Film Roles

Satine has appeared in various feature films and short films throughout her career. Her film credits include Ripple Effect (2007) as Sofia, Holier Than Thou (2007) as Ainka, and Bar Starz (2008) as Starlet. In 2009, she appeared in Don't Look Up as Anca, The Harsh Life of Veronica Lambert as Penelope, and the short film Adventures in Online Dating as Christine. In 2011, she played Christine in Just Go with It. Later, she appeared in A Beautiful Now (2014) as Jaki. In 2015, she had roles in Zipper as Ellie Green and Demonic as Jane. Her most recent film role was Elena in Outlaw (2016).

3.3. Other Media Appearances

Beyond traditional film and television, Satine has also lent her talents to other forms of media. In 2009, she provided the voice for Ilithyia in the web series Spartacus: Blood and Sand - Motion Comic for the episode "Upon the Sands of Vengeance". In 2015, she appeared in the music video for Chris Cornell's song "Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart", portraying an Enchantress.
