2. Club career
Bojan Matić's professional football journey spans over a decade, beginning in Serbia's lower leagues and progressing through its top tier, with experiences in South Korea, Greece, and Uzbekistan.
2.1. Early career
Matić began his youth career at Jedinstvo Novi Bečej. He joined the club's first team in 2008 at the young age of 16. In his debut 2007-08 season, he scored one goal in eight appearances. During the first half of the 2009-10 season, Matić scored 6 goals in 15 matches, which led to him being recognized as the Best Young Athlete of Novi Bečej in 2009. He was also considered a crucial player in helping the team avoid relegation from the Vojvodina League East at the end of that season. Overall, Matić was a member of Jedinstvo Novi Bečej's first team for six seasons in the Vojvodina League East. In the 2012-13 season, he played a key role in the team's success, scoring 18 goals in 27 matches, which helped them win the competition and secure promotion to the Serbian League Vojvodina.
In the summer of 2013, Matić departed Jedinstvo Novi Bečej and joined Senta. He quickly made an impact, helping the team achieve first place by the mid-season mark. Shortly thereafter, Matić underwent a trial with Partizan, where he scored several goals in friendly matches but ultimately did not sign a contract. Over his two seasons with Senta, he amassed 52 appearances and scored 25 goals. Following a brief period with Zemun in late 2015, where he made 3 league appearances and 2 cup appearances (including a preliminary round match against Jedinstvo Užice and a first round match against Spartak Subotica), Matić moved to Loznica in early 2016. During his time at Zemun, he was also occasionally misidentified as Stevan Matić on some sports platforms, a confusion attributed to his father's name. At Loznica, he made seven appearances, primarily as a substitute, and scored two goals.
2.2. Mačva Šabac
In the summer of 2016, Matić signed with Mačva Šabac. He immediately made an impression by scoring two goals in his debut match against Sloboda Užice. He continued his strong form throughout the season, netting eight goals in the first half and an additional six in the second, making him the league's second-highest goalscorer behind Uroš Đerić. His impressive performance led to his inclusion in the "Best Eleven" of the 2016-17 Serbian First League season, as selected by the Serbian newspaper Sportski žurnal.
On 29 July 2017, Matić scored his first goal in the 2017-18 Serbian SuperLiga season in a 1-0 victory against his former club Zemun. This goal was historic for Mačva Šabac, earning them their first-ever points in the top tier of Serbian football. He continued his prolific scoring in the following match, bagging two goals in a dominant 4-0 away win against Javor Ivanjica. Following this performance, he was named the Player of the Week in the domestic competition. After an exceptional August 2017, during which he scored five goals in four matches, Matić was honored as the Player of the Month in the Serbian SuperLiga.
2.3. FC Seoul
On 17 July 2018, Bojan Matić officially signed a one-and-a-half-year contract with K League 1 club FC Seoul. During his tenure in South Korea, he was known by his K League registration name Matić (마티치MaticKorean). His time with FC Seoul was relatively short, as his contract was mutually terminated on 24 January 2019, by agreement between both parties.
2.4. Vojvodina (first stint)
Following his departure from FC Seoul, Matić returned to Serbia and signed a two-year deal with Vojvodina on 8 February 2019. He quickly became an integral part of the team. In late July 2019, his strong contributions led to an extension of his contract with Vojvodina, securing his stay at the club until June 2021.
2.5. Partizan
After his initial period with Vojvodina, Matić moved to Partizan. He made 10 appearances and scored 3 goals during the 2019-20 season.
