1. Early life and youth career
Andrea Cambiaso was born on 20 February 2000 in Genoa, Italy. He began his football development within the youth academy system of Genoa, joining their youth teams in 2015. He progressed through the ranks of the Genoa youth sector before embarking on his senior career.
2. Club career
Andrea Cambiaso's professional club career has seen him rise through the Italian football league system, from Serie D to Serie A, experiencing various loan spells before establishing himself at the top level.
2.1. Genoa and early loan spells
Cambiaso emerged from the Genoa youth teams. His initial professional experiences involved loan spells in the lower divisions of Italian football, providing him with valuable match experience.
2.1.1. Albissola and Savona (Serie D)
For the 2017-18 season, Cambiaso was loaned to Serie D club Albissola. During his time there, he made 21 league appearances and was instrumental in helping Albissola achieve promotion to Serie C by winning the Girone E of Serie D. The following season, 2018-19, he continued his development in Serie D, this time on loan at Savona, where he played in 32 league matches, scoring 2 goals. He also made 4 appearances in the Serie D promotion play-offs with Savona.
2.1.2. Alessandria (Serie C)
On 2 August 2019, Cambiaso moved to Serie C club Alessandria on a loan deal from Genoa. He made his professional Serie C debut for Alessandria on 25 August 2019 in the opening game of the season against Gozzano, starting the match and playing for the entire duration. He quickly established himself as a starter at Alessandria. However, his loan spell was cut short when he suffered an ACL tear on 4 December 2019 in a match against Juventus U23. Following his recovery, on 21 September 2020, Cambiaso was loaned to Serie B club Empoli with an option for the club to purchase him permanently. Despite only making 7 league appearances during the 2020-21 season, he contributed to Empoli's successful campaign, which saw them win the Serie B title and secure promotion to Serie A.
2.1.4. Return to Genoa (Serie A)
Cambiaso returned to Genoa for the 2021-22 season, marking his debut in the top Italian league. He made his Serie A debut on 21 August 2021, starting in an away match against Inter at the San Siro stadium. Just over a week later, on 29 August 2021, he scored his first Serie A goal in a home match against Napoli. His goal came in the 69th minute, a left-footed strike from a cross by Paolo Ghiglione, though Genoa ultimately lost the match 2-1. Throughout the season, he made 26 league appearances, scoring 1 goal and providing 4 assists. Despite his individual contributions, Genoa finished 19th in the league and were relegated, ending their 15-season stay in Serie A. Following the season, Cambiaso garnered significant transfer interest from major clubs like Inter and Juventus.
2.2. Juventus
On 14 July 2022, Juventus officially announced the signing of Andrea Cambiaso on a five-year contract, committing him to the club until 30 June 2027.
2.2.1. Loan to Bologna
Immediately after joining Juventus, Cambiaso was sent on a season-long loan to fellow Serie A club Bologna on 15 July 2022. This loan did not include a purchase option. During his time at Bologna in the 2022-23 season, he made 32 league appearances and 2 Coppa Italia appearances.
2.2.2. First-team breakthrough and achievements
Upon his return to Juventus, Cambiaso became a key player in the first team. He scored his first goal for Juventus on 28 October 2023, netting in the sixth minute of stoppage time to secure a crucial 1-0 victory over Hellas Verona. On 15 May 2024, Cambiaso started in the Coppa Italia final as Juventus defeated Atalanta 1-0, lifting the trophy for a record-extending 15th time. His strong performances led to a contract extension with the club on 24 May 2024, securing his future at Juventus until 2029.
3. International career

3.1. Youth national teams
Cambiaso received his first call-up to the Italy U-21 squad on 30 August 2021. He made his debut for the U-21 side on 12 November 2021, starting in an away match against the Republic of Ireland U-21 during the 2023 UEFA U-21 European Championship qualification. He accumulated 8 appearances for the Italy U-21 team. On 20 May 2022, he was also invited by senior national team coach Roberto Mancini to a training camp for young players.
