Tamaki Uchiyama's playing career spanned both club and international levels, where she achieved significant success in women's football before transitioning to futsal.
1.1. Club Career
Born in Hyogo Prefecture, Uchiyama began her club career with Tasaki Kobe (known as Tasaki Shinju Kobe Ladies in 1989-1990 and Tasaki Kobe Ladies in 1991). During her time with Tasaki, she made 24 appearances and scored 6 goals in 1989-1990, and 18 appearances with 9 goals in 1991.
In 1992, she transferred to Prima Ham FC Kunoichi, where she played until 1999. At Prima Ham FC Kunoichi, she was instrumental in the club's success, contributing to two L.League championships in 1995 and 1999. In addition to league titles, the club also secured two L.League Cups in 1997 and 1998, and two Empress's Cup titles in 1995 and 1999. Uchiyama's international career with the Japan women's national football team began at a young age. She debuted for the national team on May 26, 1991, at the age of 18, against North Korea during the 1991 AFC Women's Championship held in Fukuoka, Japan. Her first international goal came shortly after, on June 3, 1991, against Singapore at the same tournament, where she scored three goals in Japan's 10-0 victory. She continued to represent Japan until 1999, accumulating a total of 58 appearances and scoring 26 goals.
