1.1. Childhood and Education

Schulze was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. During his childhood, he spent considerable time in the neighborhoods of East St. Louis, shaping his early experiences. At the age of 16, he relocated to Atlanta, where he pursued his passion for music by studying guitar at the prestigious Atlanta Institute of Music.

1.2. Early Career Beginnings

After a year of studying music in Atlanta, Schulze returned to St. Louis at age 17, where he taught guitar for a year. In 1992, he moved to Los Angeles with the initial aspiration of becoming a studio musician. However, his career path soon diversified, leading him into both modeling and acting.

2.1. Early Roles and Breakthrough

Schulze made his debut on the big screen in the 1998 action film Blade, where he played the character Crease. The same year, he appeared in an episode of the television series Charmed, titled "Dream Sorcerer," portraying Whitaker Berman, a character who entered and killed women in their dreams. In 1999, Schulze secured a leading role as Sonny in Woody Keith's film Dementia. His next film appearance was a small role as Paul in the 2000 teen comedy Boys and Girls. In 2001, he starred as John Hunter in Downward Angel and also gained significant recognition that year for his role as Vince in The Fast and the Furious.

2.2. Notable Film Roles

Matthew Schulze reprised his role as Vince in the fifth installment of The Fast & Furious franchise, Fast Five, solidifying his presence in the popular series. His other prominent film roles include playing Chupa, a Bloodpack vampire assassin, in Blade II (2002), and portraying another villain, Darren "Wall Street" Bettencourt, in The Transporter (2002). In 2004, he appeared in Torque as Henry James. Schulze's filmography further expanded with roles in films such as The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things (2002) as Kenny, Out of Reach (2004) as Colonel Faisal, Bounty Hunters (2005) as "Geronimo", Seven Mummies (2006) as "Rock", Final Move (2006) as Dan Marlowe, The Flock (2007) as Custis, and Mr. Brooks (2007) as Meeks. He also appeared as Willie in Extract (2009) and as Killer in Action Point (2018).

2.3. Television Appearances and Other Projects

Beyond his film work, Schulze has made several appearances in various television series. His guest roles include playing Eddie Davids in an episode of CSI: Miami titled "Shootout" (2005) and Kevin Rogers in the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit episode "Blood" (2005). Earlier in his career, he appeared in Pacific Blue as Keith Ritter in the episode "Damaged Goods" (1998), and in 7th Heaven as Sam in the episode "Let's Talk About Sex" (1998). In 2007, he played a Biker in an episode of Weeds titled "Release the Hounds". In 2008, Schulze ventured into writing, directing, and starring in the web series film The Acquirer (Episode 1). Shot entirely in high definition on location in Paris, France, this project saw Schulze starring opposite Tom Sizemore as Lucien, an international jewellery thief.
