2.1. Birth and Background

Kim Seul-gi was born on October 10, 1991, in Busan, South Korea. From a young age, she harbored a dream of becoming a musical actor. In her third year of high school, driven by this passion, she joined an acting academy. Despite her family's financial difficulties, which initially made attending the academy seem impossible, she took a bold step by asking the institution for support. Recognizing her genuine passion and potential, the academy accepted her, providing her with the opportunity to pursue her studies in acting.

2.2. Education

Kim Seul-gi completed her middle school education at Haksan Girls' Middle School and her high school education at Banyeo High School. She furthered her academic journey by majoring in musicals within the Department of Acting at the Seoul Institute of the Arts. Her dedication to her studies at this prestigious institution helped hone her skills as a performer, preparing her for her professional debut.

3.1. Debut and Early Career

Kim Seul-gi completed her studies in 2010. The following year, she made her professional acting debut in the play "Romeo Landing on Earth" (로미오 지구 착륙기^Korean), written and directed by renowned film director Jang Jin. This production was staged to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Seoul Institute of the Arts. Kim's involvement was through the college theater society, "Venture to Meet" (만남의 시도^Korean), and her exceptional performance in the play left a strong impression on Jang Jin.

Months later, in mid-2011, when Jang Jin was assembling the cast for the live sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live Korea (SNL Korea), he recruited Kim as an inaugural cast member. Through her appearances on the program, her popularity grew significantly, especially in the latter half of 2012. She became known for her comedic timing and often used expletives in her roles, earning her the nickname "nation's cursing sister." This heightened visibility led to her becoming a mainstream model in 2013, appearing in numerous advertisements for various products and services, including dairy products, insurance, and telecommunications companies. She is also a member of the "Jang Jin Division" (장진사단^Korean), a group of entertainers influenced by Jang Jin, and is associated with his entertainment company, Film-it-suda (필름있수다^Korean). In 2014, she appeared in the film Miss Granny and the KBS Drama Special episode "I'm Dying Soon." Her role in the KBS2 Monday-Tuesday drama Discovery of Love, which premiered in August of that year, also garnered considerable attention.
