2.1. Youth career

Rodríguez began his foundational football training and development within the youth system of Danubio FC in Uruguay.

2.2. Professional career

Rodríguez's professional career began at Danubio FC, where he made his professional debut and gradually became a key player. He later had loan spells and permanent transfers to other clubs before moving to Brazil.

He was promoted to the senior team of Danubio FC in 2016. His professional debut occurred on 3 April 2016 in a match against Racing Montevideo. He steadily increased his playing time, becoming a crucial player for Danubio by the 2018 season, where he appeared in 25 league matches. In September 2018, there were reports that Real Madrid had expressed interest in acquiring him. He continued to play for Danubio until 2021.

In July 2019, Rodríguez was loaned to Racing Club in Argentina, where he made his debut on 25 November in a match against Talleres. His loan spell with Racing Club lasted until 2020.

Following his time at Racing Club, Rodríguez returned to Uruguay and joined Fénix in 2021. In 2022, he moved to Nacional, where he played a significant role and contributed to the club winning the Uruguayan Primera División title in the 2022 season.

On 4 January 2023, Rodríguez signed a three-year contract with Brazilian club Vasco da Gama, valid until 31 December 2025. As of 21 May 2023, he had made 18 appearances and scored 2 goals for Vasco da Gama.

3.1. Youth national teams

Rodríguez is a former Uruguayan youth international, having represented his country at the U-20 and U-23 levels. He played a key role for the Uruguay U-20 national team in the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup. In the group stage, his performance notably troubled the Japanese U-20 team. Uruguay advanced to the semifinals of the tournament but ultimately finished in fourth place after losing to Venezuela in the semifinals. From 2019, he also played for the Uruguay U-23 national team in qualifiers for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

3.2. Senior national team

On 21 October 2022, Rodríguez was initially named in Uruguay's 55-man preliminary squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Subsequently, on 10 November 2022, he was included in the final 26-man squad for the World Cup, largely due to an injury sustained by Damián Suárez. Despite his inclusion in the squad, Rodríguez did not make any appearances in the competition. Uruguay's national team was eliminated in the group stage of the tournament. He made his senior national team debut in 2023 and has accumulated a total of three appearances for Uruguay, with two in 2023 and one in 2024.
