Bae Soo-yong (배수용Bae Su-yongKorean; born June 7, 1998) is a South Korean professional football player who primarily plays as a defender, specifically a centre-back. He is known for his extensive career across both Japanese and South Korean professional leagues. After developing his skills in youth football, including a successful period with Boin High School's football team, Bae began his professional career in Japan with Gamba Osaka and later had loan spells with Giravanz Kitakyushu and Kamatamare Sanuki. He then transitioned to the South Korean professional circuit, joining Chungnam Asan FC in the K League 2.
2. Youth Career
Bae Soo-yong's early football development began at Daejeon Banyaweol Elementary School and Changnyeong Middle School. He continued his youth career at Boin High School in South Korea from 2014 to 2016. During his time with the Boin High School football team, Bae Soo-yong achieved significant success, including securing four championships, one of which was the High School League King of Kings Championship.
3. Club Career
Bae Soo-yong's professional career began in Japan before he moved to the South Korean league system.
3.1. Japan League
In 2017, Bae Soo-yong officially joined J1 League club Gamba Osaka directly from Boin High School. Although he did not make any appearances for the senior Gamba Osaka team in J1, he gained significant playing experience with Gamba Osaka U-23, the club's reserve team competing in the J3 League. During the 2017 season, he made 24 appearances and scored 1 goal for Gamba Osaka U-23. His J-League debut occurred on March 12, 2017, in a J3 match against Gainare Tottori at the Panasonic Stadium Suita. His first J-League goal was scored on November 11, 2017, in a J3 match against Y.S.C.C. Yokohama at Nippatsu Mitsuzawa Stadium.
For the 2018 season, Bae was loaned to J3 League side Giravanz Kitakyushu until January 31, 2019. During his tenure with Giravanz Kitakyushu, he appeared in 4 league matches. He also participated in the 2018 Fukuoka Prefecture Football Championship, playing 1 match without scoring.
In 2019, he moved to Kamatamare Sanuki on another loan spell, also competing in the J3 League. With Kamatamare Sanuki, he made 18 appearances and scored 2 goals. He also contributed to the team's success in the Kagawa Prefecture Football Championship. His loan period with Kamatamare Sanuki concluded on January 7, 2020, at which point his contract with Gamba Osaka also expired.
3.2. K League
Following the end of his contract with Gamba Osaka, Bae Soo-yong returned to South Korea. On February 14, 2020, he officially joined K League 2 club Chungnam Asan FC. As of 2024, he has played in 42 matches for Chungnam Asan FC. He primarily operates as a central defender for the club.
