1. Early Life and Independent Circuit Career
Axel Tischer's journey into professional wrestling began in his hometown of Dresden, Germany, at an early age. His formative years were dedicated to intense training, laying the groundwork for a distinguished career.
1.1. Early Life and Training
Axel Tischer began his professional wrestling training at the age of 13 in Dresden. He made his professional debut in 2001 under the ring name "Axeman" in the EW-COM (Eurowrestling-Company) promotion. His early career saw him honing his skills and establishing a presence in the German wrestling scene. His talent eventually led to his recruitment by WWE in 2015.
1.2. European Independent Promotions
Prior to joining WWE, Tischer wrestled extensively on the independent circuit across Germany and Europe. He was a prominent figure in several promotions, including East Side Wrestling (ESW), German Stampede Wrestling (GSW), and Westside Xtreme Wrestling (wXw).
In ESW, Tischer formed the tag team East Side Posse with Lassa Kuriya in 2003, winning the e.com Tag Team Championship on November 8 of that year.
He began regularly competing for wXw in 2009. In 2010, as part of the tag team New Divine with Ivan Kiev, he defeated Doug Williams and Martin Stone to win the GSW Tag Team Championship at GSW Night In Motion XIX. That same year, he faced NOAH wrestler Yoshinobu Kanemaru at wXw Full Force XI, losing to Kanemaru's Touch Out. In 2011, he participated in the 16 Carat Gold 2011 tournament, losing to Yoshihito Sasaki in the first round. Later that year, at the wXw & NOAH joint event "Genesis in Germany", he defeated Kei Kajihara with a Death Valley Driver.
In 2012, Tischer continued to face notable opponents, defeating Shinya Ishikawa at wXw Back 2 the Roots XI. He also had a rematch against Yoshihito Sasaki at wXw Dead End XII for the BJW World Strong Heavyweight Championship, but was again defeated. In July, he made his first tour of Japan, competing for Big Japan Pro Wrestling. At the CZW & wXw & Big Japan Pro Wrestling triple-promotion event "World Triangle Night in Osaka" on July 28, he defeated Shoichi Uchida using his Death Valley Driver.
On August 11, 2012, he officially changed his ring name to his real name, Axel Tischer. At wXw Fans Appreciation Weekend 2012, he defeated Davey Richards to earn a shot at the wXw Unified World Wrestling Championship. The following day, on August 12, he won the championship in a four-way match against El Generico, Bad Bones, and Karsten Beck, pinning Beck after a Death Valley Driver. On September 14, he competed in the one-day tournament AMBITION 3, winning the tournament by defeating Kim Ray, Eric Schwartz, and Timothy Thatcher. This victory further cemented his position at the top of wXw. On November 3, 2012, at CZW's "in Germany" event in Oberhausen, he successfully defended his wXw Unified World Wrestling Championship against DJ Hyde.
In October 2013, Tischer returned to Japan for Big Japan Pro Wrestling's Saikyou Tag League 2013, competing as "Axeman" alongside Ryuji Kawakami in Block A, though they finished with only two points.
On January 18, 2014, at wXw Back To The Roots XIII, Tischer challenged Carnage for the wXw Shotgun Championship in a steel cage match, winning the title by escaping the cage. In March, he again participated in the 16 Carat Gold tournament, defeating KUSHIDA, John Klinger, and Big Bang Walter to reach the finals, where he lost to Chris Hero after a Hangman's Elbow. In October, he competed in the World Triangle League 2014, a triple-promotion league involving CZW, wXw, and Big Japan Pro Wrestling, representing wXw, but failed to advance from the preliminary rounds with six points.
2. World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE)
Axel Tischer's career trajectory shifted significantly when he signed with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), embarking on a new chapter that would see him perform under the ring name Alexander Wolfe and achieve championship success.
2.1. NXT and SAnitY (2015-2019)
In April 2015, Tischer signed a contract with WWE and began training at the WWE Performance Center in Florida as part of a class of 10 international recruits. He made his televised debut on the July 15, 2015, episode of NXT, where he was defeated by Samoa Joe. In August, he adopted the ring name Alexander Wolfe.
In 2016, Wolfe formed a tag team with Sawyer Fulton at NXT live events. In September, Wolfe and Fulton joined a new stable called SAnitY, alongside Eric Young and Nikki Cross. The stable officially debuted on the October 12 episode of NXT, with Wolfe and Fulton defeating the team of Bobby Roode and Tye Dillinger in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. In the second round of the tournament on November 2, Wolfe and Fulton defeated T. J. Perkins and Kota Ibushi, but were ultimately eliminated by TM-61 in the semi-finals.

On August 19, 2017, at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III, Wolfe and Eric Young defeated The Authors of Pain to win the NXT Tag Team Championship. This victory made Axel Tischer the first German to hold a championship in WWE. Young and Killian Dain (who had replaced Fulton in the stable) later lost the Tag Team Championship to The Undisputed Era (Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly) on the December 20 episode of NXT.
During the 2018 WWE Superstar Shake-up, SAnitY (excluding Nikki Cross) was drafted to SmackDown. The group made their debut on the June 19 episode of SmackDown Live, attacking The Usos. The following week, SAnitY was defeated by The Usos and Jeff Hardy. On July 3, SAnitY attacked The New Day, leading to a Tables match between the two teams at Extreme Rules, which SAnitY won. On the July 24 episode of SmackDown Live, Wolfe and Dain of SAnitY were defeated by The New Day in the first round of the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship No. 1 Contender's tournament.
For the remainder of 2018, SAnitY competed in only two more televised matches, primarily appearing at live events. After a nearly four-month hiatus from television, SAnitY returned on the April 2, 2019, episode of SmackDown Live, where they lost a three-on-one Falls Count Anywhere match to The Miz. During the 2019 WWE Superstar Shake-up, Eric Young was drafted to Raw, effectively leading to the disbandment of SAnitY.
2.2. Imperium and WWE Departure (2019-2021)
Following the dissolution of SAnitY, Alexander Wolfe made his debut appearance for the NXT UK brand on the June 12 episode of NXT UK. He joined the brand and aligned himself with the Imperium stable, which included Walter, Fabian Aichner, and Marcel Barthel. On the July 3 episode of NXT UK, Wolfe made his in-ring debut for the brand, defeating Jack Starz.
Wolfe, along with other Imperium members, appeared on the November 11 episode of Raw, accompanying and interfering during Walter's match against then-WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins. This intervention led to Kevin Owens and The Street Profits making the save, resulting in an eight-man tag team match where Imperium was defeated after Rollins pinned Wolfe.
Towards the end of 2019, Imperium began a feud against Ilja Dragunov in NXT UK and with The Undisputed Era on NXT. On the November 12 episode of NXT UK, Wolfe defeated Dragunov, but three weeks later, Dragunov defeated Wolfe in a no disqualification match. At Worlds Collide in January 2020, Imperium faced The Undisputed Era. During the match, Wolfe suffered an injury that required him to be taken backstage, although Imperium ultimately won the match.
On the May 18, 2021, episode of NXT, after Wolfe was defeated by Killian Dain, he was attacked by Aichner and Barthel, effectively kicking him out of Imperium. This action was done to write him off television as Tischer's WWE contract was set to expire the following June. He was subsequently among a group of NXT talents released from their contracts the day after the attack, on May 19, 2021.
3. Return to the Independent Circuit (2019-present)
Upon his departure from WWE, Axel Tischer made a significant return to the independent circuit, re-establishing himself in various promotions, particularly in Germany, and continuing his championship successes.
Due to a cooperation agreement between WWE and wXw, Tischer was able to wrestle a total of five matches for wXw between 2019 and 2020 while still under his WWE contract, using his "Alexander Wolfe" ring name. On March 8, 2020, he won a triple threat match against The Avalanche and Ilja Dragunov to capture the wXw Shotgun Championship. However, due to travel restrictions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the title was vacated on May 17.
After his official release from WWE, Tischer returned to Germany with his family and has since resided in his hometown of Dresden. He made his comeback to wXw under his real name, Axel Tischer, defeating Fast Time Moodo at wXw 20th Anniversary on August 7. On October 23, at wXw True Colors, Tischer defeated Marius Al-Ani to win the wXw Unified World Wrestling Championship for the second time in his career.
On August 18, 2021, Axel Tischer made his return to his home promotion, German Wrestling Federation (GWF), for the first time since signing with WWE. He confronted GWF World Champion John Klinger (Bad Bones) and entered himself into the GWF Battlefield 2021. On September 19, 2021, Tischer competed in a GWF ring for the first time since February 2015, winning the Royal Rumble-style match to earn an opportunity to challenge John Klinger for the GWF World Title. At GWF Legacy: 25 Years of Berlin Wrestling on November 14, 2021, Tischer defeated Klinger to win the GWF World Title for the first time.
On November 27, 2022, Tischer reunited with his former SAnitY tag team partner Killian Dain (wrestling under the name "Big Damo") at Progress Wrestling's Chapter 146 - They Think It's All Over, held at the Electric Ballroom in Camden Town, London, England.
